This course is designed to equip students with the necessary tools to reason accurately and perform analytic skills efficiently. This course will focus “on an understanding of the relationship of language to logic, which should lead to the ability to identify and evaluate various inductive and deductive arguments. The course is also concerned that students become aware of semantic confusions and of the nature and importance of definitions. The minimal competence expected of the student is the ability to distinguish fact from judgment, belief from knowledge and skills in inductive and deductive processes, including an understanding of formal and informal fallacies.”
